U British Columbia Promotes, Expands Digital Signage

The effective use of a large outside digital display inspired the University of British Columbia (UBC) to undertake a much larger digital signage scheme with a dedicated Web site, cross-department leadership, and a continual search for “great content.” The program will allow campus divisions–”units”–to coordinate messaging; develop, share, and use high-quality media; and deliver emergency messages across the campuses.

Initially, the institution put up a large outdoor digital sign in a public area, which called for the need to manage the content displayed. UBC’s public affairs, media group, and IT divisions worked together to develop content and guidelines and to implement a year-long pilot with smaller signage placed in administrative and academic areas.

Chief, Brightsign, flixio and Philips Deliver Massive HD V

Chief, Brightsign, flixio and Philips recently provided visitors to InfoComm 2011 with a visual treat with high impact. The companies combined efforts to create a massive digital video arch to display in the Digital Signage Pavilion.
The arch, consisting of Brightsign digital controllers, Philips commercial displays, flixio content and Chief’s award-winning Fusion mounts, reached a height of 108 feet (33 meters) and spans more than 139 feet in length (42 meters).
The seven Philips displays are held in place by Chief’s Fusion Flat Panel Portrait Tilt Wall Mounts (MTAPU), creating a seamless quick install that’s perfectly aligned, said the company.

NEXCOM shows off digital signage wares at NCR User Confere

NEXCOM recently announced that it was the sole digital signage hardware provider at the NCR User Conference last month in Atlanta.
Participants at the event included high-profile grocery, general merchandise and hospitality retailers from across the country using one or more of NCR’s retail software solutions, the company said. In addition, many large retailers, financial institutions and organizations within the entertainment, travel, hospitality and healthcare industries also attended the conference at which NCR promoted digital signage solutions from NCR and NEXCOM as a new tool to leverage their users’ existing investment.
At the center of the conference, NEXCOM showcased its NDiS 166 Digital Signage Player and its NDiS 125-L platform with NCR’s Netkey Signage Software.

Let’s Get Digital

Zoom Media and GoodLife Fitness are building up their exclusive digital media and advertising relationship across a national network of fitness clubs.  Zoom Media, the Montreal-based digital signage and advertising firm, will install its Flexcast-branded digital media suites in some 275 fitness facilities across the country. Each suite includes high definition overhead entertainment displays with audio and video capabilities, as well as digital signage (video only) faces in each GoodLife club.  The digital network will be privately branded for GoodLife and will be operated by Zoom’s digital subsidiary, ClubCom.
